WAITING COSTS MONEY

Too often, people wait until the last moment to try to retain a lawyer. Just the other day, I met with the young lady who has some real serious and complicated child custody issues. Unfortunately, even though she received the hearing date in early December, 2023, for early February, 2024, she waited until last week to make an appointment with me. I explained to her that because of the time constraints and my other prior commitments, I would have to charge her a higher fee because of the amount of work in such a short period of time. This situation is unfortunate. It's very easy to avoid such a problem. If you do not already have a lawyer when you receive your next hearing date, contact a lawyer immediately. Do not wait until a few weeks before the hearing. our calendars fill up quickly for each month. The longer you wait, the more it costs because of other arrangements we have to make for other matters. Even better, when the litigation starts, hire a lawyer. In the long run you will be happy.
